The Thaw – April 30, 2022
Very late spring this year – latest one since we’ve been in Mercer. The lake was covered with ice until Saturday (April 30). Then, in a matter of a couple of hours, it essentially broke up and vanished. It was quite fascinating to see actually.
No sooner than the ice began dissolving, the ducks and birds where there in an instant and feasted on fish. It was like they were just waiting and watching, and they all converged at once.
Some of my photo forum chaps already know this, but I thought I’d add this tidbit: All but one of these photos were shot with a Nikon 300mm MANUAL FOCUS lens made in 1978. Nikon Ai 300mm ED-IF f4.5. It was the 764th lens made that year. Camera body, Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II.
